Op-Ed: Transforming Prince George’s County Through Trauma-Informed Care

In an op-ed penned by Chief Program Officer, Lisa Dominguez, and Training Program Manager, Delois Pearsall, in The Prince George's Sentinel, we're shining a light on a new program that will create systemic change through training and coaching 1,600 children and family-serving professionals across the county.

We believe intense emotions deserve to be met with patience, empathy, and care. That’s why we equip our professionals with the tools to support our community through a trauma-informed, trauma-responsive, and resilient lens.

To ensure more individuals benefit from this approach, we are proud to bring a federally funded, community-wide intervention to one of the largest and most vibrant communities in Maryland in hopes of making a lasting impact.

Transforming Prince George’s County Through Trauma-Informed Care will create systemic change through training and coaching 1,600 children and family-serving professionals across the county.

The goal? Deepen the understanding of primary and secondary traumatic experiences for clients, professionals, and the organizations that serve them.

The initiative is not just local, but part of a broader commitment by the State of Maryland to become trauma-informed, and ensure all agencies are trained in these practices.
