Looking Ahead: Paths for Families’ 2025 Commitments

Happy New Year! January is a time for reflection and an opportunity to set intentions for the year ahead. For us as a community, the new year is filled with change, uncertainty and fear as the national discourse requires us to take action to protect the rights of all children and families, prioritize safety and connection, and re-commit to our core values which center the importance of inclusion, diversity, equity, access, and social justice.

Our intentions and commitments in the new year include:

  • Supporting the LGBTQ+ community by remaining an organization that welcomes all who hope to grow their family through adoption, and works to ensure that LGBTQ+ youth, who are overrepresented in foster care, have access to the supports and services they need and deserve.
  • Advocating both locally and nationally for ethical adoption practices that honor the choices and needs of expectant parents and birth parents, prioritize the well-being of those who have been adopted, and provide specialized therapeutic support to foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
  • Exploring ways to build and enhance programs and services that prioritize family well-being, helping children to be raised in their first families whenever possible, and cultivating a more trauma-responsive and resilience building community.
  • Engaging community stakeholders and those with lived experience as we co-create our strategic plan for 2026-2028.
  • Working to create a workplace culture where all feel valued, heard, and respected.

Thank you for joining us in this important work. We are stronger together and there is much to do!
