We know that adoption can be a beautiful way to build a family, and we cannot ignore the loss, grief, and pain that often exists for all members of the adoption constellation. The decision to place a child for adoption has been painted as an easy solution to the lack of access to safe and legal reproductive health care. This narrative is false and dangerous and minimizes the lifelong impact that an adoption plan has on both birth parents and the children that they choose to place.
