Support Groups

Families benefit from building community and finding support in group settings. Our adoption and foster care support groups offer a safe, welcoming space for children, teens, and families to connect, share, and grow. Led by licensed therapists and facilitators with lived experience, these online groups provide adoption-competent support, peer connection, and practical tools for healing. Sessions are offered weekly and monthly. More details below! ↓

Upcoming Support Groups:

Maryland Post-Adoption Program INTAG (Interracial Adoption Group)

We’re launching a new cohort of our INTAG (Interracial Adoption Group) through our Maryland Post Adoption Program, beginning this October!

Led by adoption-competent clinicians Delois and Weberlyn, these groups are designed to offer safe, affirming spaces for children and parents to explore identity, belonging, and expression within the unique context of interracial adoption.

All groups are free — families must reside in Maryland to participate!

Group Themes Include:

  • Identity, Belonging, and Expression
  • Race
  • Ethnicity
  • Culture
  • Language
  • Names
  • Beauty Standards, Skin, and Haircare
  • Adoption
  • Microaggressions vs. Curiosity
  • Dismissing Culture and Self Hate

Parents’ Groups:

  • October 7, October 21, November 4, November 18, January 13, January 27 (No sessions in December)
  • Tuesdays from 6:30–7:30 PM

Children’s Groups:

  • October 9, October 23, November 5, November 20, January 15, January 29 (No sessions in December)
    • Ages 10–13: Thursdays from 6:30–7:30 PM
    • Ages 14–18: Thursdays from 7:30–8:30 PM

Parent Book Club

Our Parent Book Club meetings offer a welcoming space for parents to connect and explore adoption-related books with guided discussion by Jennifer McLeod, Parent Mentor Supervisor and Adoption-Competent Clinician, along with Parent Mentors. Participation is free for families who qualify for the Maryland Post-Adopt Program.

  • First, we’ll start with initial thoughts and reactions to the book.
  • Next, we’ll dive into a guided, facilitated conversation.
  • Please join the discussion whether you’ve finished the book or not. Everyone is welcome!

Parent Support Group

Our Parent Support Group is a general support group for adoptive, kinship, guardians, and pre-adoptive parents. This group meets via zoom on designated Thursdays of each month for 1.5 hours.
