Waiting Family for Foster Care Adoption, Adrien & Adam

Hi, I am Adrien, and my husband is Adam, our birth son was born in 2011 and Archie is our Beagle mix. We appreciate that this process takes time and careful consideration and are grateful that you have taken the time to read about our family, thank you. Our journey to this point began when I was in college and my parents fostered a little girl “K”. Seeing how my parents helped to change K’s life left an indelible impression upon me that I later shared with Adam. After our son was born, in our conversations about children, we agreed that adopting a child would help to make our family complete. We understand that children in foster care often have special medical, emotional and developmental needs. We are ready and willing to meet those needs. Our son was diagnosed at age four with Autism Spectrum Disorder without Intellectual Delay and, at age six with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder combined type. As a result of these diagnoses, we have experience in collaborating with therapists and other medical professionals, and the Fairfax County School System under his Individualized Education Plan. Additionally, we have learned how to implement strategies in our parenting to meet our child’s needs.

We live in Alexandria, Virginia. Our home is within walking distance to the local elementary school and many parks and playgrounds. It is common to see kids riding their bikes and scooters up and down our street or walking their dogs. Our house is frequently full of kids running around playing. A beloved aspect of our community is that there are often neighborhood cookouts to get to know one another better.

Our family loves to read and learn new things, be outdoors and play board games. We also love to watch and play sports and especially enjoy going to Washington Redskins football games. One of our favorite things to do is get up early on Saturday morning and go to Wegman’s Grocery store to eat breakfast and walk around. We really enjoy spending time together and are excited to welcome another child into our lives and family.

Thank you again for taking to time to get to know us a little better and we wish you the best of luck in finding a forever homes for children.
